How Experience Shapes My Approach
Master of Science (Genetics)
My graduate training in genetics taught me how to critically evaluate scientific research, identify strengths and weaknesses in published studies, and separate strong evidence from weak evidence. That training continues to influence how I assess new dental techniques, products, and treatment recommendations.
Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry
I am committed to lifelong learning. Earning Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry required extensive continuing education beyond provincial licensing requirements. Ongoing learning helps me stay current with evolving evidence, technologies, and treatment options so patients can benefit from informed recommendations and modern approaches to care.
Clinical Instructor, University of Manitoba
Teaching dental students reinforced the importance of understanding not only how to perform a procedure, but why it is being recommended. It strengthened my commitment to evidence-based decision making, clear communication, and lifelong learning.
Pediatric-Focused Practice
Years spent in pediatric dentistry taught me that successful treatment depends on more than technical skill. Building trust, helping children feel comfortable, and communicating clearly with parents are often just as important as the procedure itself.
Continuing Education Lecturer
Presenting continuing education courses to other dental professionals requires staying current with the scientific literature and emerging treatment concepts. Preparing lectures encourages ongoing study and helps ensure that recommendations remain grounded in evidence rather than trends.
My Philosophy
I believe patients and parents make the best decisions when they understand both the benefits and limitations of treatment options.
My goal is to provide clear information, answer questions honestly, and help families make informed decisions that align with their values and goals.
What patients can expect
Clear explanations of treatment options
Evidence-based recommendations
Respect for patient and parent preferences
A focus on prevention and long-term oral health
